Group Chair Vacancy

Working with young people is not for everyone

After 12 years of leading the Group Trustee Board, our current Group Chair, Chris Wynne, has decided to step down. We now begin our search to find our next Group Chair to officially take over at our upcoming AGM in July 2026.

We rely on people like you playing their part to give young people opportunities to dream big, give it a go, and build skills for life. You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to volunteer. We’re always looking for people to help out in all sorts of ways in our meeting places and behind the scenes.

Want to make a difference, but don’t want to work directly with young people? There are loads of opportunities to make an impact behind the scenes. We’ll help you find something that matches your skills (and the time you have available).

What does a Group Chair do?

  • Lead the Trustee Board.
  • Plan when Trustee Board meetings should take place, and decide what to talk about at each meeting.
  • Lead Trustee Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
  • Liaise with Lead Volunteers.
  • Lead recruitment for new Trustees with assistance from the Group Lead Volunteer.
  • Support other Trustees by organising inductions, making reasonable adjustments (where needed), checking in to see how they’re getting on, and carrying out annual reviews.

Who are Trustees?

Trustees are a team of volunteers who see the big picture, make decisions, and work together to help the Scout Group run smoothly.
